Presumably anyone who thinks that Rush Limbaugh is not The Voice Of God. :-)

Although in all fairness he more likely was referring
to those individuals who think, among other things, that
socialism/communism cures all ills, admires/admired Mao
Zedong and Lenin (*not* Stalin, who corrupted the notion),
and thinks that $100M/yr CEOs are obscenely overpaid.

(I've wondered, though: in a communistic economy, why would there
be any need of money at all, except for dealing with the other
countries? The existence of the ruble appeared to be a kludge;
of course now that Russia's capitalist, it's a moot point.
Not sure regarding the CEOs; I'd have to look. I wouldn't mind
$100M a year but I'm not a CEO...and I know which system works
better. If it's not obvious, look at N Korea and S Korea, and
then tell me which one's starving :-) . The weird bit is, the
US Prez only gets about *$400K*....)

Ah! _That_ far left! Well, that one deserves it's caricature painted.
I'm not painting it here, though.
Me, I'm a liberal. In a European kind of a meaning. In a degenerate
society (like the US one) everyone who doesn't align himself with
fundamentalisticaly conservative flow, is labeled a (at least potential)
communist. I wonder why is that? Are we still getting the McCarthy era
echoes or is it a continuous thing?

Probably not, but it's worth noting that software in a sense is
close to a communistic enterprise: it can be freely borrowed
(if one has access to the source), and return is not an issue
(as borrowing = duplicating). The main issue here is organization:
if I wanted a fancy Whatzit that did ThisandThat, how do I find it?
Or I develop one myself and everyone else borrows it -- assuming
they don't all generate their own.

Well, there is the old joke -- presumably promulgated by those
"across the pond"; I'm not sure I'd see anyone here seriously
trying to tell this one. There are only two political parties
in the US: The Right -- and The Far Right.

:-)

(I claim corruption in my youth. I lived in Vienna as a youngster
for 1 1/2 years. Probably completely confused my political outlook,
but those streetcars were nice.)

As for degenerates: I'll admit we could be a little more civilized.
Shooting someone for being cut off on a highway seems a bit extreme.
I'm not sure what a European liberal is, though -- the American
Liberal was at one point even farther right than some of the
wingnuts now, being very strongly in favor of privacy, for example.

The Far Right leaves a sour taste in my mouth, of course, for their
blather regarding "less government" and then turning around and
trying to give unborn babies rights by banning abortion. The
details should probably be argued elsewhere, but briefly, the
abortion ban would be far more intrusive than any left-wing proposal
I can think of (as opposed to left-wingnut; privatizing all industry
here would not be an option).

And then there's George W. Bush's spending. I'm not sure how much
of that is because of the 9/11-caused recession (depression?) and
how much of that is because of the 1999 bubble bursting, but $500B
deficits? We'll be paying for this one for awhile -- and the
Republicans have few excuses for cutting spending here. At least
during Clinton's tenure the Republicans could claim that they
were holding Democratic spending in check. Of course, the problem
is now who's holding the Republicans in check?

My brain hurts, but then, I think it was Mark Twain who compared
the workings of politics to a sausage factory -- and both
occasionally smell just as bad.

ObJava: I would hope for a freeware implementation officially
sanctioned by Sun (JCP?) at one point.
