I did have a point. I made it. As for pointing out your spelling mistake
- I was pointing out something that made your attempted flame look even
more inept than it was. I ignored the assertion that Roedy Green was
spamming or "territorial pissing" as it is clearly FALSE and identified
as such by others.

Your .sig can contain anything you want, including your attempts at
using the English language. As such he is entitled to advertise his
website as much as I am mine and you are yours (if you have one). You
have displayed that you are incapable of determining that I made a
point, or understanding the content of the point made.

If you went into the average public house (pub or bar) shooting your
mouth off the way you do in the preceding and subsequent posts, you'd
most likely leave via the window and then proceed to hospital. As it is
you are safe in your anonymous account.

I expect the only type of response this post will get from you will be
more incoherent insults and abuse, so this will be last from me on this
subject. I have better ways to spend my time than argue with you.

It's not spam. Roedy posts helpful links to specific pages in his java
glossary in answer to peoples queries. I suspect you know this, however,
as you appear to be a rather poor troll.

Let's see. What's Roedy done for this group? Quite a lot. He posts
helpful links in answer to questions, links to a resource he's made
himself. No-one has complained about this, except yourself.

What have you done? Nothing. Or should I say "negative". You've come in
here and started pissing in the wind about someone who is being helpful.
This is the java programming and help group, and Roedy is helping.

You are pathetic. And as you have seen from other replies, you are
receiving zero respect here. Wonder why? Why not see if you can work it
out...

"Great leader"? Where are you getting this from? Roedy is being helpful.
If he was as useless and as offensive as you, we'd kick his ass as well.

Tip #1: When trolling and flaming, try to spell words correctly. It's
"weasel", anencephalous blob.

You obviously need to flip that switch behind your ear then (the one
that activates your brain). His website is quite informative.

There's only one person here who's looking very lame indeed, and it
happens to be the person calling everyone *else* lame.

That sentence doesn't make any sense. Switch on the brain man!

What, and just cut and paste his website instead? Waste of bandwidth. Or
just rewrite everything for each post? Waste of time when it's on the site.

Troll = you. Troll = idiot who sees a problem where none exists. Troll =
person who then attacks said "problem" in an offensive and anti-social way.

** Thank you, Roedy, for all the work you have put into helping out

Your site was one of my most valued links when starting out with Java
and I have personally been helped by you quite effectively on several
occasions.

No - a link to a site is better, IMHO. That way, as the page
containing the answer to the FAQ improves, so will all the individual
answers. If inline, the earliest answers will likely be the poorest.

A reminder: When one doesn't get a usable answer, often it is because
of a poor question!

Odd how what started out as a flame against Roedy turns into a
demonstration of support for Roedy, isn't it? Thank you for that, Mr.
Paul Edwards. The universe is an strange place...

It's funny, I've been ignoring this NG lately (while studying some
other things) and just happened to notice this thread. I must say
the OP did a good job of getting my attention. Perhaps he should
make a move into advertising, since he probably isn't working.

And he IS a dickhead, which will probably help him in advertising.

so wat if he cant spel? he got hiz poeent (?) akross, dint he?

And he DID generate lots of traffic (Again, go into advertising.)

Anyway, I just happened to be thinking about your web site this
morning, and how useful it's been to me.

So: Please keep up the good work. Roedy, that is.

If you think his response isn't complete, or isn't correct, send him
more material to add to it, or post your own followup with your
suggestions. If you don't like seeing his posts at all, killfile him.
Stop whining and be part of the solution, or at least stop whining.

Oh, and one last thing. Grammar and logical exposition. It would be
nice if you left USENET for a while and studied these topics. Your
incoherent posts make my eyes bleed.

Inconceivable. I do not believe anyone could get hired at a
professional job with Paul's command of the English language, and his
name certainly looks English, so this probably *is* his native language.

I find that parenthetical remark to be highly suspect. The leading
capital H just has to be wrong, the arrow thing is unconventional in
the extreme and I'm not entirely sure about ending the sentence with
punctuation either.

On the other hand, I would welcome education on this particular
subject.

I would add a smiley, but I suddenly find myself unsure of its
grammatical correctness.

I quite agree with you. Up until mid 1990 my grammar was reasonably
good. Mid 1990 was when I started using email and newsgroups. As more
and more people with English as their second language or with poor
grammatical skills started using usenet I noticed that sometimes I would
accidentally confuse English spelling with American (centre and center
being a classic). I also noticed that at some point I kind of lost the
plot with apostrophe, which is a shame. I think "it's" causes more
trouble than just about any other use of 's going. Maybe I should just
write "it is" and be done with it :-)

Parenthetical asides can be complete sentences, including punctuation;
if they get past a couple sentences, they're better as footnotes. The
arrow is non-textual, so it's not grammatical or non-grammatical, any
more than smiley faces in the margin or dotting "i" with a heart.

> I would add a smiley, but I suddenly find myself unsure of its

They're fine, but I rarely use them myself. I like people to either
figure out if I'm pulling their leg, or get offended and make fools of
themselves by overreacting. But if I did use them, there'd be one here.
